The 1983 Worldcup winning Captain Kapil Dev Nikhanj alsoa Padma Bhusan, 1991 also known as Haryana Hurricane was born on 6 th Jan, 1959 in Chandigarh to parents Ram Lal and Rajkumari Nikhanj. He was medium fast bowler and also a batsman. In 2002 he was regarded as the Indian Cricketer of the Century. He debuted in Test and ODI in 1978 against Pakistan. As a captian he debuted against Sri Lanka in 1982. He retired from cricket on 1994. He wrote autobiographies called Cricket My Style, God s Decree and Straight from the Heart. He is honoured as Lieutenant Colonel by Indian Territorial Army, 2008.
